Tom,

Starting some 20 years ago, I started to have serious gum problems.  Eventually, I lost one of three roots on a back molar and some gum tissue was excised in other parts of my mouth to make them "easier to clean."  I continued to have gum problems in spite of using the Sonicare tooth brush.  The brush helped, but it didn't solve my problems.

The dentist who did the gum surgery also gave me a pocket irrigator and told me to use peroxide, but it was not good for whole mouth cleaning as it needed to be refilled too often.

Fortunately, 4 years ago, I started with a wonderful dentist who said that I could get rid of my gum problems.  She sold me another system similar to, but not as good as, the Via-Jet.  This dentist also gave me the canula adapter which makes all the difference when trying to irrigate pockets in your gums. The first system broke down after a year. I then discovered that she was now selling Via-Jets instead. I have had that Via-jet for 3 years and it is doing well.   This same dentist told me to use an anti-bacterial in the machine.  I asked about Peroxide and her hygienist said that that was good also.  Soooooo, my gum problems went away and my mouth was in good shape.

<>But there is more.  This past winter when I was away for an extended period of time without my Via-Jet, my mouth got much worse again.  Needless to say, I am now back using the Via-Jet wonder.  My mouth is healing nicely and I am a happy camper once more.  I bought the new Via-Jet so that I can have one with me while I am away so that I don't have a repeat experience of last winter.

Thank you so much for producing this wonderful little machine.

Ellie

P.S.  I was ever so sorry that my dentist moved away.  If it hadn't been for her, and for you, there is  no telling what would have happened to my mouth.  If only I had had the Via-Jet sooner, I would not have needed all that painful surgery.

Tom:

Ever since that serious tooth decay in age 12, I have decided to clean my teeth more often.  I brush many times daily.  I bring tooth brush and tooth paste with me.  However I did not floss regularly, and almost never irrigated.  My teeth bled when I brushed (or flossed).  Since it was not painful I didn't pay too much attention to it.  And then in 2005, at age 40,  one of my back tooth started to wiggle and the gum became swollen.  I was shocked!   After scraping the root my dentist declared that a surgery is required.  He  said the success rate is high, but I had a lot of doubts.   Dr. Nara was recommended by a post in Curezone.  I bought Dr. Nara's  e-book and started to brush, floss, irrigate, and use the salt/baking soda mixture mouth rinse.

Within a week, all my teeth no longer bled when I brushed (or flossed).  This is unbelievable!  The bleeding has been there for so long that I can't remember.  I had no idea that it can be cured so quickly.  I was also surprised to see that irrigation can still clean things out (as Dr. Nara said), after what I thought to be rather thorough brushing and flossing.  I truly appreciate Dr. Nara's advice!   The tooth with the gum problem appears to be fine
after scraping/taking antibiotics.

I appreciate my dentist for the emergency cure.  I did not undergo the surgery he recommended, though.

The pockets may still be there but there is no infection

at this point.  I am responsible for the extra care required for the pockets to heal.  With the help of Dr. Nara's book and your webpage/newsletter, the chance of success is high.

Now my irrigator (waterpik) is broken.  I bought a Braun but the tip is too large.  I hope ViaJet will be better and am planning to get one.  I do not live in the US and the shipping may be costly.  But the surgery will be more expensive (and less effective).

I hope everyone can keep their teeth and  avoid the pain of unnecessary dental treatments.

Best Regards,
Sophia
